What I do

Care that starts
with the building.

Old walls need an approach that respects how they were built. From a small lime repair to an ongoing damp problem, the starting point is understanding what’s there.

01 / LIME

Lime plaster
& render

Repairs and finishes suited to traditional solid walls, inside and out. Careful preparation and materials chosen for the building.

  • Internal lime plaster repairs
  • External lime render repairs
  • Window reveals and localised repairs
02 / MOISTURE

Damp problems
& practical solutions

A considered look at damp in older buildings, with attention to the wall, its finishes and the conditions around it.

  • Understanding what’s causing the problem
  • Reviewing unsuitable wall finishes
  • Planning appropriate remedial work
03 / REPAIR

Traditional
building repairs

Looking after the details that give an old building its character, using a repair approach suited to the original fabric.

  • Lime mortar and pointing repairs
  • Stone and masonry details
  • Small repairs and ongoing care

A considered approach

Work with the
building’s character.

I’m Stu, based in Looe. Looe Traditional Building Care focuses on lime repairs and damp solutions for solid-wall buildings, with a practical approach to looking after older homes.

The aim is to understand the problem, explain the options clearly and carry out repairs that make sense for the building.

A few useful answers

Before we get started.

What sort of buildings do you work on?

The focus is traditional solid-wall buildings and the materials used to repair them. If you’re unsure what your walls are made from, send a few photos and we can start there.

Can I send photographs of a damp problem?

Yes. A close-up and a wider view, inside and outside if possible, are a useful starting point. Photos help with an initial conversation; a visit may be needed to understand the cause and discuss suitable work.

Where are you based?

I’m based in Looe, Cornwall. Include your town or village when you get in touch so I can confirm whether I can help at your location.
